New research confirms the scale of slaughter of albatrosses

As if reading about the decline in fish stocks around the world is not enough, here come some bad news about a bird most New Zealanders who go out on the sea will have a great affection for – the Shy Albatross which nest in this country.

Next time you see one, take a good look and file that picture away in your mind, time is rapidly coming when that picture is all you will be able to see.

Long-line fishing is rapidly killing off all Albotrosses and there appears to be very little any one can do about it until Southern Ocean countries like NZ, Australia, South Africa, South America say to Japan and China, clean up your act or all your products cop a hefty tarrif. [read more]
