Keep an eye on the dry fly

by Bishfish on July 24, 2006

Sometimes dry flies can be all but impossible to see as they bob up and down in the sun’s glare - but help is at hand.

Here is a nice article on MidCurrent which has some great tips, hints and patterns for tying dry flies that easy to see; by us anglers that is.

You could of course go the whole hog and build some thumping great fugly foam flies that fish and you can see from miles away. I guess as much as 80% of my dry fly fishing is now down with with these ugly brutes.

Dainty and dancing, or big and brutish, either way there is plenty here to keep us busily tying flies out of the range of Jack Frost, ready for the October (NZ Spring) season kick-off.
